LBCA Hockey Program Atom Goalies

To All Atom Parents:

The following recommendations were submitted to LBCA Hockey by a group of parents committed to revamping goalie expectations at the Atom level. Please state your intentions on your player information form and you will be provided with further information prior to evaluations.

 1.              Prior to registration, it should be announced that:

1. ·       All players interested in either full time or part time goalie should be aware to register as such when they register.

   ·       Goalies will only be set for the top two teams in Atom (4 goalies) and will not play out as a skater. The remaining goalies will try out as players and be placed on a team based on their evaluation as a player. There will be an opportunity for players that evaluate on team 3 and below to play part time goalie.

   ·       Goalie evaluations will take place before the skating evaluations.

2. Upon completion of registration, the enrollment picture should be clearer with respect to the number of goalies, number of teams, and in what degree they want to play.
3. Goalies are expected, but not required, to attend the LBCA goalie clinic that is run throughout the hockey season. The clinic runs on weekends and alternates Saturday and Sunday. It is a one hour session and is an exceptional experience for players to learn the art of being a goalie.
