* Effective September 1st, 2008, any coach, trainer, assistant coach, guest coach or volunteer who is on
the ice at practice must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet affixed and securely fastened to their
head.

In Calgary, National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) training is a mandatory requirement for coaches of teams registered and playing within the Minor Hockey Association of Calgary (MHAC). Official MHAC rules and regulations state each team is required to have at least one certified coach on the bench at every league, exhibition and MHAC sanctioned tournament game and every team practice. It is highly recommended at least one alternate coach on each team is NCCP certified as during the hockey season, the designated NCCP coach may not be able to perform his duties due to illness, suspension or other personal reasons.
